BETAMAXX was founded in June 2007 by PHATTPANTZ, after first playing in the XLEAGUE.TV Halo 2 Professional Solo 1v1 league.

After getting the taste for professional gaming, he decided to form a team and at the time was currently playng the Halo 3 BETA test and being one to follow the retro side of things decided to name the team BETAMAXX with respect to the old retro video format and also, for the exact spelling, a tribute to a much loved retro Transformer.

BETAMAXX competed in all UK leagues from June 2007 - August 2009. They also attended 4 of the UK's largest LAN events with teams representing them for "Halo 3" and "Call Of Duty Modern Warfare" playing at Matchbox 360 XL3, XL4, XL6 and i36. Through the 2 years competing there was a management structure put in place with PHATTPANTZ and PDH taking shared ownership of the teams.

From August 2009 onwards, the decison was made to move the focus from the teams, after PHATTPANTZ decided to announce a movement from management in the BETAMAXX team to taking more of a player focus and improving his own game. This caused confusion within the teams and after several days the decision was made for teams to move away from the "BTMX" branding.

The decision has now been made for PHATTPANTZ, PDH, MALCRA and Slane to move forward and to be the sole representation on BETAMAXX.
